About: The term "dendrite" comes from the Greek word dendron, which means "tree". Dendrite in a Crystal is a formation that occurs when there is a chemical change in composition of the mineral, similar to what happens with the mystical formations of snowflakes in winter. Dendritic growth commences when the substance is well below its crystallization temperature. Dendrites are most common on the surface of sedimentary rocks, especially limestone.
